Park Slope Brownstone Duplex With Deck Asks $7,500

This family-sized duplex has room to stretch out, a deck off the kitchen, dishwasher, and in-unit laundry. Located on the upper two floors of an eye-catching 1880s brownstone with oriel window at 483 1st Street in the Park Slope Historic District, the apartment also has some prewar charm and a good number of original details.

The latter include mantels (two are shown, although four are indicated on the floor plan), original wood floors, doors, shutters, and woodwork. The original crown molding over doors and windows appears to have been removed and the corner blocks replaced with rounded ones in the early 20th century to give the trim a streamlined Art Deco effect.

Facing front, the living room has a bay window, niche between original closets, and mantel, according to the floor plan. In the rear is a separate dining room with another mantel (not shown) and a side kitchen open to the eating area.

The kitchen has wood cupboards, tile floor, dishwasher, and stove vent. A door leads out to a spacious wood deck. Upstairs are three good-size bedrooms, although one is narrow.

There are two full bathrooms, one on each level, although the one on the bedroom floor is accessible only through the front bedroom. The unit has six closets, a sink in an original passthrough, and a washer and dryer.

The upper floor’s petite windows can fit portable AC units in the summer months, and hopefully are big enough to provide an escape route in the unlikely event of an emergency such as a fire.

Listed by Ruby Andreolli of Compass, the apartment is priced at $7,500 a month. What do you think?
