Brooklyn Listings Six Months Later: Two Sold

This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in East New York, Crown Heights, and Bay Ridge. How did they fare?

Nestled near Highland Park and the Jackie Robinson Parkway, this early 20th century single-family appears to be in move-in condition with appealing interior features, including wood floors and stained glass, and at a price well under the million dollar mark. The house has windows on all four exposures and a shared driveway leading to a garage at the rear. This former House of the Day sold in December for the asking price of $750,000.

On a charming row house-filled street in Crown Heights, this early 20th century tapestry brick dwelling has some fine interior period details still intact, including stained glass, a passthrough, picture rails, and an Arts and Crafts style mantel. At 145 Crown Street, it has access to its own garage via a shared driveway in the middle of the block. This former House of the Day sold in November for $1.45 million, which was $50,000 under the asking price.

There’s no denying the exterior of this semi-detached dwelling in Crown Heights has been altered, but it is one of an intriguing pair of circa 1870s wood-frame dwellings that have managed to survive in the neighborhood. Also, unusually, the house at 1408 Dean Street comes with a rear-lot garage and the interior photos show some original details still in evidence. This former House of the Day was taken off the market in December and relisted with a new broker briefly before going off the market again earlier this month.

A fairytale-like abode in Bay Ridge is back on the market, looking for just the right buyer to succumb to its eccentric charms. Known affectionately as the Gingerbread House, in architectural terms the abode at 8220 Narrows Avenue is more properly Arts and Crafts in style with rubble stone walls and an organic, swooping roofline. This former House of the Day is still available.
